[ ohhhh my god. well he kind of looks a little annoyed for a second because of that name. ]

There is no third wheel! [ yelling uselessly at a closed door. but now he's just kind of pouting. rude. ]

anyway, he shifts a little and kisses nico's cheek to try to get that pout off his face.]

[ he accepts the cheek kiss and it does actually make him stop pouting. ]

[ except he's using a free hand to punch will in the shoulder. ]

Don't say it like that or he's never gonna come back!

[stunwhistle]

Ow!

[he says ow, but he's laughing.]

What? It's not like I said "yet" at the end of that!

Yeah, but you're definitely thinking it. I know you, Will Solace. [ huff. the fuck is he even objecting for. probably the fact that he literally has a bedroom they can make out in. ] It'd be like if I said the same thing to any of your teammates.

[ the joke is that nico would literally never imply they're even dating to will's teammates and it's debatable if any of them know anyway. ]

Soooo what you're saying is if you said it to my teammates you'd also be thinking "yet"?

[he chuckles]

That kinda makes it sound like you're thinking it right now.

he picks up a cushion to smother it in will's face gently and lovingly. ]

Stop. [ it's a hiss because he's embarrassed (a year later and yes, he still kind of gets embarrassed when will calls him out on this shit) and also yeah maybe he is! what of it! everything else sucks so why not! ] I didn't bring you back here for that!

[ like. not just for that. maybe it'll go that way later not in this pc but it won't because britt and i are holding out on the mods. ]

[stunwhistle]

[there is the muffled sound of will's laughter as his boyfriend smothers him with a pillow]

[ Did you hear these footsteps over Will's exuberant laughter because Lillium is literally behind them. ]

Not a third wheel, huh.

[ he's still busy smothering will, so. no. he did not hear the footsteps but he does look up at him and let up a little. ]

You're the one who left and made yourself a third wheel.

[ that's not helping and also not how it works. shame is staring up at lillium with its big white eyeballs. ]

[stunwhistle]

[oh, he can breathe again. he chuckles a little, catching his breath.]

No third wheeling here. We're on good behavior. [are they?] Anyway, hi. Good to see you again.

That's not how it works. [ YOU THINK HE WOULD ACCEPT THAT. ] I knew you two are from the same place, but what I didn't know was that I should have expected the both of you to be smooching in our lounge.

[ Lillium doesn't sound actually annoyed, by the way. He is giving them a gentle rough time for fun.

Shame does get a look as cat to cat communication, then Will. ]

[ An actual greeting this time. ]

[ he's listening and he is, surprise surprise, rolling his eyes to that. ]

You won't have to worry about that since Will lost all kissing rights. [ deadpan. shame just chirps, completely unaware of what's going on. ] And what do you mean expected?

[stunwhistle]

[he sneaks shame another chip from his bag, then grins at lillium.]

Yo. Also, Nico was serious about me helping you guys. I figure until we find some other solution, the best option is if our two teams tie.

[perennation]

You two are a cute couple.

[ That's all he says to Nico for his question. ]

Talked to the team leads about ties?

[resumed]

[ why does he feel like he's being ganged up on. he settles for grumbling under his breath at both of them and ignoring. both things. business only. never mind that they are still in the exact same position as before and that shame is happily eating this chip. ]

Not necessarily about ties. Or, well, I didn't. But I did ask Fox about what happens if a team wins but there are two people from the same place. They're still looking at options...and Fox seemed to imply that they're in a similar situation, too. They want to save as many people as possible even besides that.

I didn't get to really ask Phoenix though. [ he got distracted so badly, help. ]

[stunwhistle]

I asked Phoenix, actually. They said they hadn't heard anything about a tiebreaker, so if two teams did tie for first place, they should all get to go home safe.

[so. there's that.]

Of course, the better option is everyone does, but I'm not risking this going bad, so - [he shrugs.] I'm gonna be working on making sure our teams tie while we look for other options.

[perennation]

This all sounds promising, even if it's nebulous. Still better than definite doom.

[ A sigh as he thinks it over. ]

If the plan for now is to ensure a tie, that's harder than just winning.

[resumed]

The fact that they haven't heard rather than an outright now is promising, I agree. We're still not clear on what gets us points in the competition either, but it's probably those tasks? Fox gave them to you guys too, right? If we help each other complete those that's maybe a good start.

[ and to be the bearer of bad news: ]

There's also the part where we're still competing against six other teams.

[stunwhistle]

That might have something to do with it, yeah. They also mentioned "hero work" like getting cats out of trees if they get stuck, but that seems a little...

[he makes a vague gesture with his free hand, shrugs, and then feeds shame another chip.]

I knocked out two of mine yesterday. The others are a work in progress.

[perennation]

[ Lillium closes his eyes after Nico mentions the tasks, then Will the hero work. There's math involved, but INVISIBLE math and that's the WORST KIND OF MATH. ]

I have one more task to go. [ But now he's like... Should he be figuring out hero work? Are there even enough villains heroism to go around with SIX OTHER TEAMS. ] That is part of what will make winning with a tie difficult.

[ Pinches his nose and sighs. ]

You guys hungry?

[resumed]

[ invisible math truly is the worst. shame continues to greedily eat chips. ]

...I'm working on it. [ he does not say how many he's completed because at this time i actually don't know but he is working on it. ] I don't know if there's a real deadline or anything but I imagine the sooner we do it, the better. Maybe that'll give us an edge over other teams, too.

[ he blinks at the question though. ]

Is this another effort to make sure the food isn't poisoned? [ a little bit of a joke. the answer is yeah, kind of, but he's still a little iffy about outright saying yes. ] I did eat this morning when I fed the Cocoa Puff.

[stunwhistle]

Yeah. It'd be nice if we had an idea of how they're tallying this... [INVISIBLE MATH!!! ugh.] But in theory we should probably be able to find out the rankings from time to time, right? How are they gonna motivate people to get their butts in gear if they don't give us updates on where we're at? We can communicate and try to match the amounts of tasks our teams are doing collectively, then put in some extra effort if it seems like anyone's pulling ahead.

[or. something. it's hard to form a concrete plan without a better understanding of how they're scored.]

I could eat. I had breakfast, too, but that was a bit ago. [he chuckles, reaching over to scritch shame between the ears.] And I've only gotten to eat like half of my chips.
