We don't have proof for anything. That's why I want to look at everything. [ maybe some people don't know guns kill people and some idiots get arrested for it. ] What would qualify as proof?
Yeah. [ a little quietly. he's looking up at the sky again ] The world's an uncaring place. It's not always true for people, but that's just the way things are otherwise. Plenty of people die without anyone noticing or caring, and plenty more have someone who cares but who can't do anything about it anyway.
[ ...well it's not like he doesn't understand that, considering. of course he does. he's seen plenty of listless souls wandering around that never really had much to claim for themselves. likewise, he's met plenty of people who have gone unnoticed for so long. ]
...death has a way of being very straightforward no matter who you are. But the living also often are too preoccupied with themselves to take notice of other people that are a part of their daily lives. Even if nothing can be done...do you think it's better to care about those people?
I don't know. [ it's more philosophical than he thinks of it. some people are unlucky, and no one ends up ever caring for them, because the world isn't a nice place by itself. but-- ] I don't think there's anything wrong with caring about others, though.
[ sorry, he gets this way, and he seems to realize he's saying things that maybe are a little too serious. so he pulls back a little to think of what else to talk about. ]
...just another reason we'll start working to figure out what happened. Even if this world's justice system is different, if they're leaving us to our own devices we should be able to find a good solution.
