[ i keep wanting to write week 5 im tired. anyway ace finds nico at the park. he looks pretty much the same as during curfew but sad, which is to say, bandaged up and wearing a shirt. nico's looking at the news and he just finished so ]
... You find anything before this? [ whisper didn't deserve this kind of end but they don't get a choice what happens and it's a little exhausting actually ]
[ yeah me. anyway he is also sad which is why he's just sitting here still fucking wet and sort of staring off into space. ]
...clothes in the water. Like a uniform, kinda. And glittery. [ he will tell ace but: ] I don't think it would be connected to Whisper. Datz and Adlet found some stuff, too.
[ he frowns at wet nico and lifts a hand before dropping it back down because oh yeah right he doesn't even have fire to try to help dry him off a Little. bleh. annoyed. ]
... So you think it's related to Janeway. [ hm. ] I didn't really find anything on my end, but I wasn't trying to look too hard either.
[ there's a half-smile because he knows what ace is trying to do, and he appreciates it, but it also sucks that they're all kinds of flipped around still. ]
I do, yes. Based on where they said Whisper was found it would be kind of a trek to just abandon clothes in the lake and then not even weigh them down so they're just floating. They weren't even that far from the shore. [ he glances up at his face. ]
Normally I would say that you shouldn't have been out trying to look in the first place, but...it's too difficult not to try and look after stuff like this happens.
Clothes with glitter and some weird pink stain on the collar. [ so. a little more specific. ] If I had to guess, I assume they were left there by someone who didn't care if they were seen or not. Or they were hoping for it.
[ but...yeah. he gets that. ]
Neither am I. Pretending it's not happening doesn't really sit me anyway. What good does it do not to try in any case?
Why is it always glitter? [ everyone has glitter. he's tired. ] So either they were trying to throw us off or the clothes don't tell too much about who wore them.
[ which. ugh. he hates solving murders so much. ]
I still don't get why they won't let us look at stuff more on Fridays. [ it's because it's a murdergame, ace ] It always feels like we're playing catch up the day after.
Because it's the most annoying substance to get rid of? [ he is also tired. ] We can probably investigate them later if we need to. I haven't decided what to do with them yet.
[ me, remembering i did not turn them in because i was in hell for several hours this afternoon. ]
Even worse is that we have to look at stuff in the first place instead of any of the actual law enforcement doing their job, but that would be asking way too much for this city. I'm still convinced they're fake to make everything look like it's running smoothly. [ but he shakes his head. ] ...our best idea tomorrow is to sort out what locations might match each victim first, and if we can leave, we pick a location that doesn't match the body that we're currently examining. It's our best bet of balancing the cases.
Good idea. I want to focus more on Whisper, but... [ but it is maybe not the best idea to focus Only on that because what if it was another case of insane accident. also, after a beat... ] Honestly, I was surprised there were real doctors in the hospital at all. I was worried everyone was dragging me to be seen by penguins.
...I saw the announcement and I didn't get much further before now. [ whisper really bummed him out. ] We can try to focus on both, but I'm sure others will focus on Janeway as well and we can prioritize a little.
[ there's an annoyed sound though. ]
I wouldn't have been surprised given how largely useless the penguins have been everywhere else. But no, real doctors and real medical supplies. We're kinda lucky that way...especially with what Sundays mean half the time, too.
You know what I mean. [ and he knows ace knows. ] At least halfway through we knew what happened to Yae Miko and we had a focus to defend Reigen. Tomorrow, we're not going to know anything until probably much, much later. We can't waste time.
week 3, friday

We both know I'm no good at sitting around. And with all the sirens around every time...
[ it is impossible to ignore the murder news ]

[ he means whisper mostly. he has no reason to be optimistic about it but yknow ]

...we have to. I don't think it was any of us, so what happened last week likely won't happen again. But it means we can't slack off tomorrow either.

[ it's dry. he thinks the rest of them worked pretty hard to figure out and then immediately defend reigen ]
