Of course Ace was involved. [ tiny bit fond. ] Phoenix is really patient about things. They're probably the easiest to talk to. Or at least I understand them a lot better than any of the others.

[ he says, when he clearly has not returned back to his own dorm since he got back. ]

To be fair to him, we both decided to bre—barge in basically at the same time. [ she is literally the law. stop breaking into dorms, tama. ] But, yeah? Of course. [ it was crime ]

Most of them are pretty easy to talk to— although I haven’t spoken to Tiger, or much to Snake. But Phoenix feels a lot more chill. That, or they just have so many grandparent vibes I don’t really know what to do with them.

Unsurprising and a convenient excuse. [ he. kind of laughs at the idea of phoenix being a grandparent even if the laugh itself sounds a little awkward and off. ]

Tiger's pretty nice. They could probably use a few friends or people to talk to them. I don't think they're used to it. And I haven't talked to Snake yet. I was going to try but...stuff happened. [ like cyoa. he seems to latch onto the phoenix topic though. ]

Phoenix is a good listener is what it is. They have a way of trapping you in a conversation before you even realize what you're actually talking about and saying more than you mean to because it doesn't feel like they're judging it. [ that is. too deep of a read. but it's fine. ]

Oh. I should try and talk to them then. There's so many more of us here now, so it'd suck if they didn't get a little more used to talking to us all. [ oh nico has been phoenix cornered. ] There's things I haven't told them, but felt like I wanted to? So I get what you mean.

Somehow I feel like you and Goat have different ideas of pride, Tama.

That's sort of what I said. We're all going after the same thing, so it makes some sense to try and talk to people more even if it's hard. [ also yeah. he has. he sort of pauses to that though and takes all of that into consideration, sinking a little into the cushions of the couch. ]

I think I would have been hunting on my own anyway. I don't like waiting for answers to come to me. I just didn't think I'd be taken somewhere else to find them.

Mm. Same. I'm used to sticking my nose into things with work anyway. There's possibly more I can do, but right now I'm a little hampered. Phoenix outright told me I can't get something I need right now... but hopefully it won't take too long for other places to open up again.

I've been asking them to get my old powers back instead of what I have and keep getting told no. So I think we're just going to have to work with what we have. [ for now. ] What were you hoping for?

They probably don't, but we do have wi-fi where I'm from. And smartphones. [ they have all of the modern tech of the 2020s, he just personally doesn't use it.

also it's very nice of tama to truly derail so hard that it's getting him out of his own head. he would appreciate that if he had a single clue that it was happening instead of just going with it. ]

If they own one and it's not dangerous for them to do so, sure. But they're kind of honing beacons for monsters, so we try to avoid them.

I’m pretty sure they’re beacons for advertising spyware and government tracking too, but that doesn’t stop people.

It's mostly kept out of camp for that reason, and I really don't feel like making it easier for a monster to find its next demigod to-go meal, you know? But there's always exceptions.

When you say camp, do you mean like... a camp site? [ because you know what doesn't sound like a safe place for kids? a campsite. ]

You could say that? But more like a training camp. [ but he kind of grins. ] A camp site, Tama?

That's what most people would think of when you hear camp! Like camping!

We've camped out before while we're on quests but I don't think it's the same as what you're thinking. But no. Camp Half-Blood, it's where we stay most of the year. We're allowed out into the city for things if we ask for permission but it's sort of like a boarding school except we're learning how to survive and beat up monsters instead of other stuff.

A... boarding school for the not-entirely-human, only it's in the woods somewhere with no internet access.

A training camp for demigods just outside of Manhattan with internet access and minimal computers. And whatever technology the Hephaestus cabin feels like making at the time. We're not that removed.
