I don't know. Datz has been collecting them, and sharing them with Ryuki and me. But I want to know where they come from, without needing to kill anybody or die for it. I don't want to believe something just because it's written on paper.
[ All this information is great and all, but what he really wants is to know the source of that information. And then shake them down until they spill all their secrets, at knife point if need be ]
Yeah. Datz is part of the group of us who've been exchanging and dispersing information to spread out to all the teams. I've been wondering that myself though. I've been telling the leaders for a while now that I hate the idea of believing something just because it's written, but...in light of one of the new papers I do have to wonder if because it's written, specifically, it's now our reality.
Roughly, yes. ...it was Ace before, but I've been keeping Tama updated as much as possible as well. [ but you know. ]
We either need to locate our author, or we need to find the pages they're writing on and remove them from their power. So. Two birds, one stone? One would likely lead to the other.
[ stop wtf. also wow my grammar was terrible last night. ]
Yeah, he's right. [ assumes kusemon is just their world's version of pokemon. ] It's a creature that turns into anything it wants to be. It can be an inanimate object, or it can mimic the looks of other creatures. It makes you believe that what you're seeing is the real deal...at least at first.
[ HELP that's...fair. he looks a little surprised and then he kind of remembers that nobody on hanako's trip got prizes and he's like "oh, duh." ]
Okay. So have you heard about how people tend to disappear on Thursday and they come back and they're usually pretty injured because they went somewhere else and had to find their way back?
Right, exactly. Reigen and Will and I went on one, but the one we went on kind of involved the story of someone with an ability to...kind of act like a Ditto. Change into whatever was necessary, or whatever they wanted. [ granted it was traumatic and bad and full of murder but whatever. ]
When we finished what we were meant to do and saved who we were meant to save, we were given items that matched the vibe of the story. It happened when I went to the casino with Whisper and Hans, too. That's where the king card came from.
[ He's just imagining the three of them traipsing through the city with a pink blobby thing, and can't quite take it seriously. ]
Oh...
[ thinks about his own cyoa ]
... We tried to save Rita. I think. [ ?? ] But then Ryuki blew us up and we became ghosts. At the very end, we got the chance to redo everything. I guess by then it was too late, though.
[ he didn't feel bad back then, but he kind of does now, getting Ryuki and Rita killed over nothing ]
[ that's fair, he'd rather hanako think about that rather than what happened. ]
...you think? [ how does he not know. well, those things do tend to screw up memories so. ] Ryuki sort of explained things to me but not very much. If you could redo it again though then...does that not mean you went back to the start?
I don't think Ryuki is one who handles stress well, so that doesn't surprise me very much. [ he just comes out to say it. ]
...that sounds pretty awful though. Having to be displaced like that while keeping the memories of the before times. [ he does not say he thinks he knows exactly what their adventure was inspired by either even though he has an extremely good idea. ]
...[ he has to really think about this because that's such a weird grey area for him that he doesn't entirely know where to put himself. ]
No, when you phrase it that way I suppose you're right. Knowing that people you care about are safe is more important than yourself. It would almost be harder to still be around knowing they might not have.
It's Fridays for me. On Saturdays and Sundays, at least we're doing something...
[ Saturdays they tackle the mystery, knowing that they're working so hard to proactively send one of their friends to death. Sundays make a mockery of it, forcing them to cheer for one person over another, regardless of their past deeds.

"The written word has the power to shape reality" or something like that, wasn't it? We just need to locate our author.

Think maybe it's Addy?
[ That's really the only "author" he knows about, but alsoβ ]
Oh yeah! You were going to tell me what Switch is!
no subject
[ but ah. right. ]
You heard about what the Switch was supposed to do in the trial, don't you? Do you know what a Ditto is? [ i'm too lazy to copyright friendly this. ]

Ryuki said it's a pink blobby Kusemon. I'm not familiar with it, though.

[ Hanako didn't understand it at the time, but now he does. Ryuki probably talked about it as much as Hanako did, which is not very much at all. ]
There's no such thing as starting over. For us, it was simply a continuation... for everybody else, a new beginning.

We got to save Yashiro... and my brother. And Hung and Tama, too. Knowing that they'd be safe is more than worth it, even if we were displaced.

I've been trying to decide what's worse. Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays. So far it's been a three-way tie.
