I think they're not really designed that well. [ he does not say it's probably because ace is part of the strongest pirate crew. ] It'll probably be fixed later. We can try something with less punching?

Yeah, of course there are. We can try... [ he looks at a foos ball table before absolutely rejecting it. probably one of those shooter games. rejects that too.

This should be simple enough. All you have to do is hit the puck into the other person's goal. I mean it's not really a video game but they have these at arcades for some reason.

So it's basically like a table sport? [ "does one piece have air hockey" I REFUSE TO THINK ABOUT IT ace is wandering over ] That's probably easier to teach than one of those games anyway.

[ and he probably won't break this one. maybe. ]

Yeah. I would have suggested ping-pong but somehow I get the feeling you'd hit the ball hard enough it'd go through the wall. [ he's pushing a paddle toward ace and grabbing the puck for himself. ]

You use these things to push the puck around. It'll slide across the table, and you not only have to block your goal you have to try and get the puck into mine. Simple, right?

Hey, c'mon, I can play sports without going overboard...

[ probably... he grabs the paddle and then kind of like. pushes the paddle back and forth to himself on the table because air hockey physics are fun. is he listening to the explanation while he does this? probably ]

Puck goes in the hole, sure. This is neat though! It's hovering a little.

Uh huh. [ sounds fake. but he watches ace push the paddle back and forth...and he's briefly following. ]

I'm not sure how it really works, but it's so it glides smoother. I think. But it makes it easier to push things around right?

Yeah. [ continues to just. push his paddle around for a bit. wheeeee ] Seems straightforward enough though! Let's try it. I'm ready.

[ he is going to hit the puck so hard it bounces right back into nico's space and then straight to his own goal for a self-score. i'm just saying now ]

Okay. [ and the puck is down! and zipping across the table! nico doesn't even have to hit it back before it pingpongs its way across the table and straight into ace's goal.

so he just. looks at him. ]

Normally when you're playing a game you don't help your opponent score.

[ taking the puck out ]

I've got the idea this time! [ shoots it!!!! it bounces against the walls......slightly less!!!! ]

[ he watches it go...and reaches ahead with his paddle to slam it back over to ace's side. the joke is that nico is equally aggressive so it absolutely ricochets around the table before the puck is stuck in a corner. hm. ]

...well, you were right. You had the idea.

... Maybe the puck's too light?

[ THAT'S NOT THE PROBLEM. ace reaches over to unstick it and ... very gently... pushes it over to nico's side... ]

Since the puck's light, we have to be careful I guess.

[ exercise control, ace. but he pushes it back slightly stronger so it slides and bounces over to nico's side without going apeshit ]

[ he bounces it a little harder back toward ace's hand. ]

Yeah, I've never really understood this game.

It'd be better if the puck was less light, but then I guess the air thing wouldn't work...

[ no just hit less hard you absolute weirdoes. hits it again a little harder. bounce bounce bounce ]

And then I think that's just regular hockey. Not that I've played that either. [ they are going to amp up the intensity of each hit like a couple of idiots, watching the puck bounce and miss both goals. ] I haven't had time for stuff like that in a while.

I haven't played it either, but I didn't play a lot of real sports growing up. [ "does hockey exist in one piece" whatever. whatever. they are both just failing to make any goal and getting more aggressive for it ] Busy with training?

Among other things, yeah. [ this is going to continue. ] I've been busy with a lot of things over the last five years. We just got another break a day or so ago before I got here.
