You have a long night ahead until tomorrow morning, so it only seemed fair. [ he says, wondering if he's feeding hans to give him just the right energy to murder his executioner instead somehow. ] If I'd known you liked the food there so much I would've brought you extra.
[ but he slips a hand in his pocket instead. ]
...not exactly a great place to be in though. [ especially if hans is actually innocent. ]
[He's a catte in catte jail. Who can say what the leftover food is for? ~itisameowstery.jpg~]
Meow, I was all stocked up fer all kinds o' mayhem tonight, but they ain't even lettin' us have snacks around here. Seems like they're real confident in jail cookin'.
[He tilts his head at the movement, yellow eyes bright in the gloom.]
Ain't my first time in a dungeon, though, an' this one's pretty cushy otherwise.
I'm not a cat but the night's kind of...more comfortable for me. [ goth. but also, it feels better at night to be out and doing things. ] Kinda scared to ask what you were planning to do out there, but yeah. To be fair, the jail food's actually better than I thought? We managed to survive on it for the weekend.
[ mimics the headtilt, unaware it's because nico's moving around like the way you do when you just have nervous energy and could really use a fidget spinner. ]
Was the first time because of something you did? Or was it a situation like this?
[Like, what kind of phoenix is a goth phoenix but it's fine (it's just a bat but phoenix-shaped, sure).]
Can't say I'm usually the one plannin' anything yet, though, just gotta be ready fer somebody to blow somethin' up again or kill the meowyor eventually. [these are definitely great events that merit snack food spectating, obviously] First time I got thrown in a dungeon? I forget! Mighta been some guards havin' a bad day or mighta been I stabbed the wrong guy. Even an assassin's gotta start someplace.
[ he looks confused for a brief moment before he realizes what hans is implying. ]
Bat. [ because he likens himself to a bat sometimes anyway. ] I just do my best work at night.
[ this is the look of someone who is absolutely expecting hanako to kill the mayor sooner or later, but that is someone else's problem for now. he's not entirely surprised to hear this either (given assassination is literally on his profile.), but he figures it's better to hear from hans than not. ]
And just how many times did you end up in a dungeon then...?
Bat o' darkness, then. [he was totally picturing some sort of weird raven thing at first but he will also accept this, grinning] Guess sometimes these powers can run to what's useful an' interesting.
[Thematic powers! Like, his is technically thematic too but is it useful??? Guess we'll see tomorrow! ☆]
Less times than ya might expect! Ya learn to lay low an' gather informeowtion an' all that good stuff right quick or yer not goin' to be around for long. 'Course, it's not like I could kill every guard or uniform I ran into, either. Clients'd get mad, cities'd get mad, countries'd get mad... [waving a hand, paw formation] Didn't have heroes gettin' mad in my cards, though.
Sure, we'll go with that. [ he kind of laughs, but it's fine. ]
I didn't expect anything, really, I was just curious considering how things have turned out. I figured you had to be somewhat good at your job after what happened in the casino. [ is this a compliment... ] But this still turned out a little different. This place isn't exactly great at playing fair.
[He nyahihis along, about as good-natured as that weird-ass laugh can get. It turns into an actual laugh when the casino gets brought up.]
Meeow, a few times there I thought I was goin' to have to do things the old-fashioned way, all them traps an' bunny guards an' things ain't anything I'm used to. Plus sneakin' places and taking out things ain't usually my gig.
[He is still not a cat burglar but he really sounds like he's fondly reminiscing on the whole disastrous setup. Perhaps he is the only one.]
Ain't no fairness when it comes to meowtters o' life and death. Can't say I'm usually out there fightin' paperwork, so this suits me just fine.
[ the thing about it is that he's actually like ??? and then it turns into genuine curiosity the longer hans offers information. ]
You do know that's only opening yourself up to questions about what your usual gigs are, even though you've kind of already given an impression.
[ and then his face grows a little more serious. ]
...you aren't wrong about that though. Death doesn't have mercy. Seems like a pretty drastic measure just to avoid solving murders, you know. [ ... ] But if that helps you right now then okay.
