I feel like the "whatever" might just be people at this rate. [ or maybe the moon really is making people insane. he's not sure anymore. ]
I've thought about that myself. Kind of makes you wonder if that's on purpose or if someone might be planning something for later. [ yeah. he will come out and say it, because he has also been thinking of that. ]
I know horrible people are everywhere but we're not strangers at this point and there's no way there were a bunch who suddenly decide to do this for the fun of it.
[You'd think after a month most normal people would hesitate to do anything like attempting to burn corpses and tying them to pet kennels and what not. No, there are shenanigans afoot. It's not like Sigrun is idealist about how good or kind people are, but at the same time it's hard for her to believe a not insignificant number of heroes in training saw a chance to kill and gleefully dived into it. There has to be something going on]
If we noticed, others must have noticed too. Could be we're meant to be some sort of suspicious team.
[Like, the team 'designated' to draw others' suspicion. Sure would be something a self-proclaimed supervillain pulling the strings would do, to stoke everything and cause more deaths! Especially if the Crimson Phoenix team soars to the first place in the competition at some point]
Agree to disagree. [ there are some people who are definitely still strangers to him, but that's on nico for not talking to some people. ] We don't know the extent of people's motivations and we won't until we find people to ask.
[ on the contrary, he thinks that perhaps people are more likely to incorporate shenanigans because it's increasingly obvious that they're able to get away with these things if they try. the prize to be earned is questionable at best though. ]
...elaborate on that one? [ mostly because it's been weeks, and he still has to wonder sometimes if they're on the same page and how sigrun thinks of things. ]
[Hah, oh the things Sigrun said in this thread sure look different after the whole Adlet thing, eh?]
At home there are several units in the Norwegian military camps. Sometimes one unit begins looking better than the rest -- they get treated well or the higher-ups keep getting them to do the things that are really fun or dangerous. So that makes others wonder what's so special that gets them all this attention, even if what they actually do isn't all that different from the rest. Why them and not us.
That kinda thing gets units really competitive sometimes. It's all friendly, though, because we're all there for the same goals and wouldn't think of ruining anything just to drag someone else down.
[She pauses]
But here it's not like that, here, because people die and what not...so I think if things get competitive like that, it's going to get ugly against us. We're the only team that is still full and we consistently have high spots in the rankings. Yeah, some of us have gotten real hurt but at the end of the day there's enough people to make sure it doesn't last for long. Our chief is awesome and is looking out for us all the time. If someone is thin-skinned enough they could start seeing us as some kinda threat just because we haven't been in as much trouble as the rest.
[That's her reasoning, pretty much]
That's why I think we might be getting set up as some kind of target for others to be distracted by.
[ well. yes this all makes sense to him and he's thought the same thing, basically, when it boils down to it. people are getting scared and people are thinking killing is a valid option and people are losing their minds a little. there may be a time that killing is the only option, and it's easy to look at a team who hasn't lost anyone yet to clear that bar.
on the other hand: ]
...it's hard to know when we don't know the motivations still for several of the kills. It's something I still want to look into. And it's why I want to find Satan's kill still, too. If we could find them, maybe we could ask for the motivation behind it. If they had a personal grievance with him or if they had another reason. For us...we may be safe for now, but you're right. We could be an easy target if for some reason a team decides to do this.

Whatever makes this stuff happen must have noticed we don't do too hot when there are two.
[She's surprised there aren't more corpses a week by now!]
Dunno how to feel about how we're the only crew without any losses, too.
[Like either they have gone unnoticed somehow, ooooooor the other shoe will drop and things will go real bad soon]
