Perhaps not to the point she'd rather they don't, but to misstep and be in a position where she needs someone else to be concerned about her or something she did, well, it feels like she did something wrong and therefore shouldn't happen]

Probably because Will's said similar enough before. Or I've just been spending too much time around him. That doesn't mean it's wrong though.
