Welcome, foolish mortals, to the Haunted Mansion...though you may have once known it as the Crimson Phoenix dorm. As you approach, you may find that the area is hardly recognizable. There are several tables set up outside hosting all sorts of activities, and at the front and center is a small, cheerfully crackling bonfire. Scattered around the outside are several fake tombstones with equally fake inscriptions painted on them and lit by soft glowing lights with various skeletons posed around the graveyard. In the front on the way to the main door is a twelve-foot skeleton dressed as a witch, and from here you can see three inflatable pumpkins on the roof. Approaching the dorm itself, you'll find that the outside has been decked out in lights and decor, and the inside is just as elaborate and extra. Terrible idea to give teenagers unlimited money and time on their hands, huh?

As you enter through the lobby, you'll find that you may be guided to enter a haunted maze. Adventurers beware...

...but for those of you who are more interested in the festivities upstairs, residents of Phoenix dorm will happily shuttle you up to the second floor in an elevator decked out with floating candles. Upon reaching this floor, you'll be greeted with the lounge. There are plenty of couches with red cushions and blankets for maximum comfort, and the entire floor is equally decorated. Various horror movies play on mute from the TV mounted against the wall, and music seems to reverberate throughout the dorm everywhere you go. Loud enough to enjoy, but not loud enough to disrupt conversation. Hanging from the ceiling there also appears to be a large pinata in the shape of the moon, a large wooden stick leaning against the wall with a bandana draped over the top...batter up!

The four bedrooms appear to be blocked off with caution tape, but the two bathrooms and the kitchen are open to everyone. And while there's a third floor...there's nothing of interest up there other than space and more decor to admire as you mingle.

The party's just getting started. Have fun and get spooky.

In the kitchen are plenty of tables and counter space. As promised, there are plenty of snack foods and drinks (both non-alcoholic and alcoholic, thank you) available for your perusal. There also appears to be a full candy bar filled with pretty much whatever candy imaginable. Plus, there is a cake with a sign next to it that says ??? Mystery cake...

Finally, there is also a free table waiting to be filled! Please share anything you may have brought for guests to enjoy in a comment below.

[ she is really just here picking at the little decorative cookies one by one. someone stop her before she eats them all in one sitting. ]

[there is a three inch (yes, inch) dragon trying to unwrap a candy bar. it's going poorly. please help, the snickers is as big as she is.]

[ hung arrives with his promised char siu, along with lychee eyeballs filled with raspberry pulp (good on their own but also in drinks!), spiderweb chocolate bark, pumpkin truffles, ube crinkle cookies, mummy hot dogs, tombstone cookies, a variety of spiderweb mini pizzas, and. idk. probably other stuff. hung has been researching halloween stuff and probably has a fucking pinterest board on his phone for recipes now. ]

[ This isn't food but there's a free table and Hanako plops down a large glass jar right in the middle of it. Inside is something black and squirmy... upon closer look, it seems to be multiple black squirmies.

A sign taped to the front of the jar reads:

Guess how many spiders are in this jar! Closest guess by the end of the night wins a very special prize!

*for the safety of our guests, please do not open the jar lid

The number of spiders seem to be somewhere between 50-200. Guesses can be submitted below and a "winner" will be chosen at some point tonight ]

[ datz is here as a dragon pirate with scales and yak horns and shaggier than normal hair. it's a Look.

anyway he's just piling up a ton of snacks on a little plate and hopefully won't drop them when he inevitably hits his horns on a door frame for the millionth time. ]

[ Ponta is dressed in a Vampire costume.... mostly. There are gold dragon wings (mini-size) sticking out of his outfit and gold scales on his cheeks. He is also, inexplicably, sporting a mustache.

He brought ghost cupcakes! Are they orange flavored? Yes. ]

MUSIC + MOVIES

Honestly, it's entirely possible the music playing upon entering the house is the OG, and the movie is N*ghtmare Before Christmas. Feel free to comment below if you want to change either one.

[ Rabbit is here sporting nine fox tails, long ears, white hair, and red eyes. They are also dressed as a ninja! ]

This is a peculiar movie.

Oh, well. Movies is kind of fun... and this one isn't scary at all.

HAUNTED MAZE/HOUSE

Downstairs on the main floor, several fake walls have been set up to create partitioned rooms for a spooky, scary haunted maze! What surprises await you...

...eh, you tell us. There's all kinds of costumes, decorations and silly lights and effects you can grab to run your own little haunted house adventure. Feel free to comment below with a sub-toplevel if you're willing to run a small thread for a few people and let others tag in for spooks and scares!

...and occasionally Nico and Jolyne will absolutely be assholes and jumpscare anyone nearby. It's fine.

[ For two hours, spooky ghosts will suddenly start to appear. They will look scary and fly around and act menacing, but they won't actually hurt anyone. If you salt them or physically hit them or do anything else cool and flashy in an attempt to stop them, they will turn into cute harmless little wisps. ]

PUMPKIN CARVING

Outside are a few tables set up for people to gather around and carve a pumpkin or two! There are several pumpkins of various sizings, carving kits, paint and candles (both real and battery-operated) to design something special.

There is also a sign posted that states: Best Design Wins Limited TCG Card.

Is that true? You'll just have to find out, won't you?


...and in a more secluded corner are some especially crunchy pumpkins and a tarp spread on the ground. A perfect set-up for smashing them instead. Thank you, Hanako.

[ well. she suggested it, so... she's got to give it a shot, right? she's got a carving kit, some paint and some candles ready and is squinting at a reference picture she has in front of her. ]

This shouldn't be too hard, right?

[ phoenix promised to come, and while they don't care much about the card, this one sort of caters to their skillset, yay! what is their skillset you ask? stabbing. it's stabbing.

they're well on their way to finishing this before many people arrive. ]

[ PUMPKIN SMASHING!!!!

At the end of the night, grab a bat and let out all your frustrations by pulverizing a pumpkin. The best carved pumpkin wins the prize, and all the others have Hanako (dressed as a gold mouse) looming nearby with a bat over his shoulders waiting for his chance. ]

BONFIRE/GHOST STORIES

And finally, back to the bonfire you passed on the way in. There are chairs scattered around the fire, and nearby is a table with all the supplies you need to make some delicious, tasty s'mores. On the table there is also a little placard: Our other friends can't be here tonight, but burn an offering for them and say hello.

The eerie atmosphere of the fire's glow is also the perfect place to tell a ghost story or two, don't you think? Gather around...and prepare for this evening's meeting of the Midnight Society.

[ Well, Axel at some point makes sure to heed the tiny placard at some point, but after that, he's going ahead with making some traditional s'mores, holding it out to a fire.

There's probably some people sitting around as well, but at some point, Axel's speaking up himself. ]

...Say, doesn't anyone think this will be the perfect time for a scary story?

[ naturally, at some point, temenos is burning an offering over at the bonfire, because like what else do you do. he is dressed in a costume, with a cute little sheep bell ribbon collar thing... but he's got a pair of cute little fake fangs in, and more importantly, a pair of wolf ears sitting on his head. it's hard to tell if these are part of transformation week or not. occasionally, his eyes glow an eerie looking blue! but you might catch him with his head bowed in prayer in a moment of zen.

...otherwise he seems to be observing the others making s'mores with a sense of muted curiosity on his face...? what the heck is a marshmallow.

or! better yet! once someone has taught him the magic of s'mores, you might see him taking cute little nibbles of it like a little rabbit. and once it's his turn, he sets down his sweets.

and then offers a smile. ]

[ seated in the chair furthest from the fire, nibbling on a graham cracker with his elbows on his knees, is Danny. He looks at the fire absentmindedly and quietly grumbles-- ]

[there is what appears to be a darth vader action figure, arranged so that it's sitting on the arms of one of the chairs!

except, wait. its legs are moving a little as they dangle over the side of the chair's arm, and it looks like its chest is rising and falling as if it's actually breathing. huh. that's weird.

[ Ponta is dressed as a vampire, mostly. His teeth are all very sharp and he has tiny golden dragon wings sticking out under his cape. Gold scales adorn his cheeks and... he also has a mustache. For some reason. Currently, he is twirling it. ]

If the ghost story doesn't include an angel fixing a broken router, is it even a ghost story?

[ At some point early on in the night Hanako busies himself with hiding Amethyst Snake plushies in the bushes and tall grass, winding them around tree branches, having them sit right in the middle of the pavement, balancing them precariously on the rain gutter so the slightest breeze might cause them to fall on an unsuspecting victim...

There's a total of 32 Snake plushies! The person who collects the most wins a special prize!!

Also when you grab the snake it starts screaming. It sounds a lot like those screaming rugs, actually, which is because Hanako removed the voice boxes and stuffed them inside the snakes instead. ]
